Braxton-Perkins Post 25, Regional, District & Department of Virginia 2017 Oratorical winner


The purpose of The American Legion’s National High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

Braxton-Perkins Post 25 and the American Legion Riders Chapter 25 offer one of the highest scholerships in Virginia for the 2018 American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program - “A Constitutional Speech Contest” with the local winner awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship which can be used at any college or university in the United States and a chance to compete at the State and National level with many addition awards if successful.
